Jannik Sinner received a truly unexpected message immediately after becoming world number 1 in tennis. His confession released in a recent interview before his debut on grass in the Halle tournament.
All of Italy now loves the deeds of Jannik Sinner, the first Italian tennis player in history to have climbed the world rankings, reaching first place. In fact, since June 10th, Jannik Sinner has been the new number 1 in the worldafter having ousted the Serbian from the throne Novak Djokovic.
This year Sinner won his first slam, bringing such an important tournament back to Italy since Panatta in 1976, when he won at Roland Garros. In fact, Jannik won the title at the end of January Australian Open in Melbourne. The South Tyrolean tennis player won two more titles this season – the 500 in Rotterdam in February and the Masters 1000 in Miami.
After a hip problem in Madrid, his participation in the second slam of the season – the Roland Garros – was in doubt until the end. Sinner, however, gritted his teeth and took part in the important tournament, reaching the semi-finals. Here he was defeated in 5 sets by Alcaraz, then winner of the tournament in the final against Zverev.
Sinner number 1 in world tennis: the unexpected message
The important journey of these months is the excellent Roland Garros they allowed Sinner to climb to number 1 in the world rankings. Now the grass season begins and Sinner will participate in the 500 in Halle for the first time as number 1 in the world. The goal for him, then, will be to play a Wimbledon at high levels in the first two weeks of July and to achieve a medal at the Olympic Games scheduled for Paris this summer.

During the interview he then revealed that he had received messages of esteem and many congratulations from many people of the world of tennis, sport and beyond.
There was one, however, that particularly struck him, namely the one sent by his idol Roger Federer. These are his words: “My idol has always been Roger Federer, then his message was truly special. But all the number 1s with these messages were extraordinary, I would like to thank them one by one in person“.
