Djokovic injury: “I love this sport, I’ll be back as soon as possible”

Smiling, with crutches and the Eiffel Tower in the background. Novak Djokovic has reappeared on social media after having undergone knee surgery following the injury suffered in the round of 16 match against Cerundolo which forced him to withdraw. “Yesterday I had to make some difficult decisions after suffering a meniscus tear during my last game. I’m still processing everything, but I’m happy to report that the surgery went well. I’m so grateful to the team of doctors who were there for me alongside, as well as the incredible support I have received from my fans.”

Djokovic, who in Monday’s world rankings will leave number 1 to Jannik Sinner, has no precise predictions about his return. “I will do my best to be healthy and fit to return to the field as soon as possible. My love for the sport is strong and the desire to compete at the highest level is what keeps me going. Idemooo.” Assuming a minimum of three weeks for recovery, returning for Wimbledon seems difficult (last year he was a finalist, beaten by Alcaraz) while participation in the Paris Games (to be played on the Roland Garros courts) is more probable.
