Pecco Bagnaia enchants Mugello, all at the feet of the blue standard bearer. With the Ducati ‘National Edition’, in blue livery as a tribute to Italy and our national teams, the world champion imposed himself with an impeccable race on the Tuscan track, ahead of his teammate Enea Bastianini and Jorge Martin. Starting from the second row due to the -3 penalty, Pecco immediately takes the lead with an excellent start on the outside and a great Luco-style overtaking on poleman Martin: this is the prerequisite for getting in front and dictating the pace. He succeeds with a peremptory race, in which the group runs behind him without hindering his triumphal march, only apparently undermined in the last three laps by Martin, then beaten in the sprint by Bastianini, who overtakes him at the last corner of the last lap .

Bastianini’s lunge at Bucine rewards Enea, perky and very effective in the final laps, and creates a perfect Ducati team effort that helps Bagnaia significantly in the World Championship. In a few meters Pecco recovers another 4 points from Martin, still leader of the world championship standings, but with less margin: before the weekend Bagnaia was -39 behind the Spaniard, now at -18 and with Marc Marquez, 4th at the finish line, at – 35 from the summit. The Italian campaign yielded a good harvest for Pecco: that was his intention and he achieved it in full.

Ducati dominates the day, placing four Desmosedici in the first four places, there is also Marquez at the foot of the podium, but less incisive than usual, which becomes six in the first seven, thanks to the 6th place of Franco Morbidelli (Pramac) and the 7th by Fabio Di Giannantonio (VR46). A good part of the race was decided at the start, with Bagnaia’s imperious sprint becoming the uncatchable hare for the pack. Martin always follows him at a distance, between 4 and 8 tenths, and when he seems able to undermine him, in the last part of the race, he is instead burned in the photo finish by Bastianini. Enea climbs progressively, his style: first he passed by Marquez with a lightning-fast braking at San Donato, then he redeems himself with two great maneuvers in the last two laps. He regains the podium from Marc with a surgical entry at the Scarperia on the penultimate lap, then at the last corner of the final lap he carves out the masterpiece of overtaking Martin which is worth the official Ducati’s double and the Italian triumph.
