Daniil Medvedev advances to the round of 16 Roland Garros, the second Grand Slam round of the season, currently taking place on the clay courts of the Bois de Boulogne in Paris. The Russian, world number 5 and fifth seed, defeats the Czech Tomas Machac, number 34 in the ATP ranking, with a score of 7-6 (7-4), 7-5, 1-6, 6-4 in three hours and 28 minutes. But the match certainly remains the best shot of the tournament which bears the signature of Tomas Machac.
Under attack by Medvedev, after a half jump, unable to recover his position, he makes a drastic decision: to change hands. Machac passed the racket into his left hand and managed to put the ball back on his opponent’s side.
But it doesn’t end here. Medvedev immediately goes on the counterattack. The Czech’s response is masterful: despite not being able to grip the racket well, he took it from the frame, he hits a super shot. A perfect forehand passer starts from the left and Medvedev is stunned. Next comes the roar of the Roland Garros crowd. Even the commentators went crazy and shouted: “It’s not true, it’s not true!!” This shot will remain in the history of this edition of the Paris tournament.
