The low-cost Jeep that will break the market is about to arrive. The American brand is preparing to attack many of its rivals
The world of cars is changing rapidly and everyone the great giants of the sector, including the Stellantis Group, are trying to keep up with the increasingly frenetic pace of the market, paced by what customers demand. At the moment nothing seems to sell as well as a low-cost and spacious SUV, perhaps inspired by a historic car and, if possible, equipped with a hybrid engine.
Among the companies that were tempted by the possibility of expanding their clientele we find Jeep, another old acquaintance of many Italian enthusiasts who appreciated it above all for the creation of off-road vehicles, before the type of production differentiated itself to meet the renewed needs of the market.
According to the latest rumors, Jeep (brand owned by Stellantis) he would be working to the creation of a small SUV with an electric motor; but what sense would it make to design a car from scratch when we already have the Jeep Avenger and above all a vehicle that has been selling well for ten years and which can easily be adapted to electric? Low cost Jeep, previews on engine and price
Introduced in 2014 and subject to a major restyling in 2019, the Jeep Renegade it is one of the most successful off-road vehicles of the American brand thanks to its versatility – it is also available in a hybrid version – the decidedly high on-board space and the extensive on-board equipment.
What the Renegade is currently missing is a battery-powered model. Voices increasingly insistent they give for certain the arrival of this variant which could be made on the same platform as the Citroen C3. The possible release date has also popped up with 2027 which seems to be the year chosen for the release of this new Jeep different from the others.
During an event held in Michigan the American representatives of the Stellantis Group released some indiscretions gleaned from the press and in particular from CarScoops which reveals the following to us. Jeep’s new electric SUV (be it the Renegade or another separate model) will cost 25 thousand dollars which translates into approximately 23 thousand euros on our market.
As already anticipated, it now seems certain that the car will share the mechanics with the new C3 while the battery mounted on board should guarantee a range of 320 kilometers with over one hundred horsepower. The indicated cost would make the car a direct rival to the cheapest electrics on the market such as the Dacia Spring cwhich costs just over 17 thousand euros, the same C3 and the Panda which, in the new electric B-SUV model, should have the same price.
