This evening – on the Court Philippe-Chatrier – Novak Djokovic will face the first real test of the tournament against Lorenzo Musetti. Many of the questions that performance and results have created around whether it can do well for the Roland Garros in the last few weeks, they will find their answer starting from the delicate match with the Carrara tennis team.
The Italian has often put Djokovic in difficulty on clay: last year he beat him in Monte Carlo and in 2021 – precisely in Paris – he had won the first two sets, only to then surrender to the Serbian’s return and some physical problems.

In an editorial written for the newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, Paolo Bertolucci provided his analysis on the particular moment that Djokovic is experiencing.
“Up until now he has hidden himself a bit, once for one reason, once for another he seemed to be looking for sincerely very fragile alibis to justify a performance that was far from expectations. I believe that Djokovic is aware of the fact that he has to give very specific answers to what is his current condition in view also of Wimbledon and the Olympics”, wrote Bertolucci.
“At the moment he only manages to raise the performance bar in certain particular moments of the match, no longer as before throughout the entire match. This is the reason why we see a rollercoaster trend in his matches , with ups and downs, most likely due to a difficulty in finding the right stimuli and the concentration necessary to lead the match.
Finally, the fact that the entire team has changed in recent months seems to me more like a desperate attempt to find the right way to prolong the dominance than anything else, as if it were the only possible solution to return to center stage.”
