Today will be the turning point for the Tour of The Alps 2024. After two days of climbing even i 127 kilometers winding around SchwazAustrian town in Tyrol, they loom as complicated and potentially explosive. Short but explosive stage, with two climbs in the final circuit with grim slopes, which could see the first direct face-to-face between the big names in the ranking.

Hamlet that develops entirely in Austrian territory. The first eighty kilometers will be rough, but they shouldn’t cause too much havoc. The music changes radically when we enter the last part of the day, with the menu including the very hard climbs of Weerberg (3.2 km at 9.5%) and Pillberg (3.2 km at 9.9%), to be climbed twice. After the last hill there will be 4500 meters of descent, while the finish line is located after a straight uphill stretch.

There is certainly the possibility that the escape will disappear today too, and then naming a few names becomes complex. Who knows, Alessandro De Marchi (Team Jayco AlUla) might try again, even if the physical unknown is the greatest after a day like yesterday. If there were to be the first direct clash between the big names, the strength of Tobias Foss would be tested, with INEOS Grenadiers at home who could also have a say on him. Remaining within the ranks of the British squadron, if Filippo Ganna manages to keep the wheels going uphill, in the small group sprint he would probably have no rivals. One of the best climbers at the start is Ben O’Connor (Decathlon AG2R La Difesa Team), while Esteban Chaves (EF Education – EasyPost) also appeared lively again after a long time. Also watch out for Antonio Tiberi (Bahrain-Victorious), fifth in the general classification.
