Tobias Foss ready to make himself available to his teammates in case of participation in the Giro d’Italia 2024. The Norwegian, who during the last CicloMercato session switched from Jumbo-Visma to Ineos Grenadiershas just returned from a complicated year in which he raced little and found no successes and is now aiming to relaunch himself with the British team, with whom he made his debut last month at the UAE Tour. To begin with, the former world time trial champion, however, said he was available to also play a support role during the next Corsa Rosa for the team captains Geraint Thomas And Thymen Arensmandespite the fact that in 2021 he himself was able to make the rankings in the Italian GT, finishing in ninth place.
“If I go there, I will have a supporting role for Geraint and Thymen – confirmed Foss a GCN regarding his possible participation in the Giro – As for me, I hope to be able to improve my form in order to being able to stay with them as much as possible on the climbs and also being able to go full throttle in the time trials“.
The 26-year-old, who has not participated in a GT since the 2022 Giro, is therefore willing, at least for now, to put personal ambitions aside: “I have to prove something to get a freer or captain rolebut I am also satisfied to be next to them and do my best for them.”
Even though he has only taken part in the UAE Tour so far with his new team’s jersey, the Norwegian said he is in good condition and ready to get involved.”I think I had the best winter everfrom the point of view of regularity. I want to continue like this and I think my form is probably one of the best I’ve ever had in February in my career, so I’m in a good moment. There is a lot of work to dobut I think this will happen naturally with more races and more training.”
