Flavio Cobolli again! After beating Nicolas Jarry in the first round of the Australian Open, the Chilean also surrenders in the second round of the Masters 1000 in Miami: he finishes 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 in just over two and a quarter hours to get the pass to the third round where he will find Karen Khachanov.

There start of the match smiles at Jarry who immediately goes ahead by a break, attacking in a big way in the exchange and putting Cobolli under. However, the Chilean’s tennis is, as often happens, discontinuous. Then the forehand starts to act up, the Roman remains very present in the exchanges and immediately recovers the break and from 0-2 he goes to 3-2. Jarry continues to make a lot of mistakes especially when leaving serve, the blue finds heaviness and depth and in the eighth game he finds the break which leads him to serve for the set. With great tenacity, Flavio courageously saves three break points, holds his serve and takes the first set 6-3.

L’start of second set is similar to the first, with Jarry starting strong and immediately snatching the serve from Cobolli, taking the lead 2-0. The Chilean risks suffering a counter-break, goes 0-30 down, but this time advances to 3-0. Jarry risks 3-1, when he concedes three break points, but manages to get back on track with the serve. The South American takes another risk at serve, but cancels another break point in a long game and takes the lead at 5-2. The number 23 in the world manages to finish the job and win the second set 6-3, despite an MTO due to groin problems.

The Chilean is actually doing well and the third set begins in great balance, with both holding their serves without too many difficulties and without granting break points. The closer we get to the salient phase, the more the tension grows: Cobolli is the first to break serve, he finds the break that makes it 4-2 with a heavenly forehand return. The Roman cancels a counter-break ball with the serve and volley and flies to 5-2. With personality the blue takes the break to the end and, despite not closing in response, he takes home the match 6-3 in the third.

Cobolli, who saved seven out of nine break points throughout the match, won 76% of points with the first against his opponent’s 68% and 50% with the second.
