Another excellent performance by President Renis’s Power athletes, who however fail to go 2-0 but maintain the difference in goals against Orlandina who wins 83-79 in a point-to-point match. The start of the match at the Infodrive Arena was a real swing of emotions, Power was unable to get into gear and get into a rhythm with the starting five deployed by coach Farabello, they went 10 points down after 6 minutes with just one basket from the field.

The Salerno players change their momentum with the entry onto the pitch of Duranti and Mei who with two consecutive triples put the Sicilians at 0-6, then bringing Power to just 1 point behind the home team (16-15). Second quarter in total balance, the teams apply their mutual game plan, responding blow for blow to every basket: high pace and it ends at 35-35.

Even after entering the changing rooms after the long break, the game continues to have no owner. Small breaks with each of the two teams leveraging their strengths: Orlandina with the long players and Salerno with the backcourt. With 2’50” left in the period, a triple with a foul on Mei – at the end of the 24″ – gives Power the maximum advantage (+5), but Capo responds with a counter-break that brings it to 57-54.

The back and forth continues even in the last half of the game, but it is in the last 4 minutes that the match is decided; first episode by Marini with a 3-point game, then Mei, Chavez and Basile to fend off the Sicilians, Jasaitis with great presence and Mentonelli who made the decisive breakthrough with a triple and a basket on the counterattack. Chief controls the rebounds and it’s cold from the line. The match ends at 83-79.

“We played a good match, but we made the same mistakes we made against Ragusa. We will continue to work on these aspects and also improve our approach to the match. Now we look forward to the next two home matches which are fundamental for us. Our objective will be that of bringing home the home results against Ragusa and Sala Consilina.” These are the statements of coach Daniel Farabello.

Scoreboards: Power – Chaves 17, Ani 17, Mei 16, Basile 9, Duranti 5, Zanini 5, Favaretto 5, Manisi 3, Misolic 2, Zampa.
