The audio in which the director of an Md supermarket in Brandizzo, in the Turin area, ordered employees to “suck it” instead of constantly going to the bathroom, was only “the latest episode in a long series”. Trade unionist Francesco Sciarra of Uiltucs Ivrea explains this to the Messaggero, according to whom “the problems with this store manager have been going on for some time”. Now the employees have turned to the union, which “eight times” has asked the MD management for a meeting “but we have always been ignored”. The company, however, denies it and claims that last June 7 there was a meeting with the union «to examine the company situation and no reference to the incident was made in that meeting, where we would have reiterated the actions and measures taken for the Brandizzo episode.”
The company has suspended the manager of the Md store in Brandizzo, where the union now wants to organize a demonstration to protest. Some former employees speak of other insults directed at them by the director. «She told us that we are goats, she shouted, the ways are all the ones you have heard. She always said offensive things, like “I’ll throw you under the press”. The audio in which the woman in exasperated tones told the employees to “get over it” was sent in a Whatsapp chat at the beginning of June aimed at all the cashiers. In the voice message, the director said that the employees could only use the bathroom for urgent reasons, so as to avoid the “constant opening and closing”. And then she said: “You don’t go to the bathroom anymore, you just spend four hours, rather do it on yourself.” So the point of sale is unmanageable.”
