A recognition that comes from an entire city for his 60-year career, but also for the still close bond with the city of Rome. In the early afternoon of today, Saturday 13 April, the mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, handed over the Capitoline she-wolf to Claudio Baglioni, in the Giulio Cesare hall of the Campidoglio: “With his songs Claudio Baglioni has entered not only the history of music Italian, but also in the hearts of all of us – says Mayor Gualtieri -. The bond with our city, he dedicates to his parents. It was truly an emotional ceremony.”

Outside Palazzo Senatorio a large group of fans sing his songs: “An honor to receive this award and I dedicate it to my parents because it is thanks to them, who emigrated from a small village in Umbria, that I built this bond with this city – he says Baglioni -. I am still very attached to Centocelle today and the invitation to play there makes me happy, who knows if there will be a blitz or some surprises”. A news that undoubtedly cheers up the president of the fifth municipality, Mauro Caliste, author of the invitation: “We await him with open arms, for him to return to where it all began.”

“Rome recognizes credit to one of its sons who started from the bottom and achieved success and became an absolute protagonist of the Italian and international musical panorama – recalls the president of the Capitoline assembly, Svetlana Celli -. He has always honored our city and has given and delivered authentic and unforgettable masterpieces to his public. His life, his bond with his parents, who arrived in Rome from Umbria, his commitment to social issues and to rights are an example to inspire us. With this award, Rome says thanks to an immense artist of profound human value.”
