Kevin Feige just confirmed what era the MCU reboot will be set in

Not only in which era, but also in which reality of the Marvel Cinematic Universe the reboot will be set

There had been much speculation about the type of setting of Fantastic Fourthe new Marvel Studios reboot of the first super family of superheroes, but now there is confirmation of Kevin Feige.

During a new interview, the Marvel boss confirmed that the Fantastic Four reboot will actually happen set in the 1960s, as had already been widely speculated after various marketing clues; not only that, Feige also specified that the film will be set in an alternate reality compared to the main one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

This information should strengthen the hypothesis that these previously separate universes will collide in the next Avengers film, Avengers: Secret Wars, which should see the return of several MCU characters.

Matt Shankman has taken the reins of the reboot dedicated to Marvel’s First Family after the resignation of his colleague Jon Watts, who directed the final Spider-Man trilogy. The screenplay he will use is written by Eric Pearson, Peter Cameron, Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer.

Plot details are currently unknown, but we know Pedro Pascal will play Reed Richards/Mr. FantasticVanessa Kirby will be Sue Storm Richards/The Invisible Woman, Ebon Moss-Bachrach will take on the role of Ben Grimm/The Thing, Joseph Quinn as the Human Torch and Ralph Ineson as the planet-devouring Galactus, with the Ozark actress Julia Garner as her herald, Shalla-Bal Silver Surfer.

Paul Walter Hauser and John Malkovich were cast for roles currently top secret. “I can’t say anything about the character I’ll play, but I know it’s part of the lexicon and mythology of the Fantastic Four stories.“said Hauser. “So I really appreciate the fact that Marvel gave me this opportunity by giving me a role that will somehow allow me to be part of that family.
