Hugh Jackman will return as Wolverine in the eagerly awaited new MCU film Deadpool & Wolverinewhere for the first time he will wear the iconic yellow-blue costume of the superhero of the X-Men seen so far only in the comics and animated TV series of the franchise.
However, not many know that, over the course of his 24 years playing Wolverine (the first time was in Bryan Singer’s 2000 X-Men), Hugh Jackman was about to slip into the yellow-blue costume already in The Wolverinethe acclaimed first film of the saga directed by James Mangold released in 2013 and also known in Italy with the title Wolverine – The Immortal: the suit had been prepared for the Fox film, but was cut from the final cut released in cinemas and it was later published a photo showing the Wolverine costume stuffed into a briefcase. As you can see in the post available at the bottom of the article, the suit would have had a brownish color, inspired by a famous variant of the costume that Wolverine wears in the comics.
“We almost did it in The Wolverine“, recalled Hugh Jackman when talking about the costume he will wear in Deadpool & Wolverine. “But when I wore it for this new movie, I thought: ‘Why the hell have we never done this before?!’ It felt right, so perfect. I thought, ‘It’s him.’ There are several sides to Wolverine that we’ve never seen before in the movies, and the costume is just one of many you’ll encounter in this film.”
