Now that filming has finished on Star Trek Section 31, a spin-off film for the Paramount+ streaming platform, it has also been officially announced Star Trek 4which will be the last chapter of the reboot film saga of the franchise.
In fact, in these hours Variety has exclusively announced that Steve Yockey, creator of the Max series “The Flight Attendant”, has joined Starfleet as new writer for Star Trek 4which has just become a priority film at Paramount Pictures and Bad Robot: the details of the story remain under wraps, but Variety reports that the two companies consider the project as the final chapter of the reboot saga of the franchise started in 2009 with the film Star Trek.
Because of this, it has been confirmed that all the main protagonists will return, including Chris Pine (as Captain James T. Kirk), Zachary Quinto (as Commander Spock), Zoe Saldaña (as Lieutenant Nyota Uhura), Karl Urban (as Dr. Leonard McCoy), John Cho (as Lieutenant Hikaru Sulu) e Simon Pegg (as Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott).
Getting Star Trek 4 back on track has been particularly difficult for Paramount, given that in the past at least three attempts failed for various reasons: the most recent dates back to the version by director Matt Shakman (WandaVision, The Fantastic Four) who was hired to make the film together with screenwriters Lindsey Beer (“Sierra Burgess Is a Loser”) and Geneva Robertson-Dworet (“Captain Marvel” ).
