The demonstration will continue in Potenza throughout the morning
Coldiretti Basilicata, with members and provincial and regional managers, has been present since 9 this morning under the headquarters of the Basilicata Region in Potenza, to monitor the work of the technical secretariat of the Puglia Basilicata water program agreement, which will have to define the distribution of water resource. “The situation, as we have repeatedly denounced, is dramatic and risks compromising the future of many companies – underlines Antonio Pessolani, president of Coldiretti Basilicata – especially if the meeting of the technical secretariat does not satisfy the farmers’ requests”. For Pessonali “we need to intervene urgently as unfortunately we have a tangle of bodies and bureaucrats who do not allow the Basilicata Reclamation Consortium, diligently represented by the agricultural world, to transfer this water resource promptly and quickly. It’s time to not hide behind mathematical algorithms, which have at their base the only attention to excessive protection, becoming an alibi for not taking responsibility”. For the number one of the Lucanian agricultural organisation, “it is necessary to start the procedures for the recognition of the state of calamity due to the drought which has now persisted since June last year, in order to prepare interventions, even of an extraordinary nature, which favor the recovery of the productive activity of companies which in many cases, already at this moment, urgently need economic support from regional institutions”.
