Brescia-Bornato, extraordinary maintenance works underway

Extraordinary maintenance work on the railway infrastructure of the Brescia-Bornato section will begin in the night between Monday 1 July and Tuesday 2 July in the city of Brescia, along the Brescia-Iseo-Edolo line of FERROVIENORD. The operations will be carried out mainly at night so as not to interfere with normal railway circulation. Thanks to this activity, the efficiency and security of the network is guaranteed.

THE INTERVENTION – Specifically, these are works to renew and restore the railway infrastructure, which include the replacement of rails and sleepers, through the use of a renewal train – which employs approximately 60 people/night for a maximum production of approximately 1 kilometer per night – and the replacement of ballast, thanks to the use of the ballast remediation machine, which employs approximately 15 people/night and replaces up to approximately 250 meters of ballast per shift. The construction site will start from the city of Brescia and will then continue along the line to the Bornato station. The work in conjunction with level crossings could also continue during the day, resulting in the suspension of the railway service, in addition to the temporary modification of local road traffic. TIMES AND FINANCING – The priority interventions on the Brescia-Bornato section will end in September; secondary activities and finishes will be carried out later. The intervention is completely financed by the Lombardy Region with €17,703,040 for the Brescia-Bornato section and with €47,400,735 for the Artogne-Edolo section, where the works will start from the end of September, as part of the Program Contract with FERROVIENORD .
