Potenza, “without water for seven days, we get our supplies from public fountains”

Below is a letter to the editor from a citizen of Potenza who, for seven days, together with his family, has been dealing with the serious inconvenience caused by the lack of water.

English: “Good evening, here in Contrada Torretta quite close to the water tank, we await the flood, like Noah, since except for about 2 hours this morning (a trickle of water), for 7 days the taps have not dispensed anything 24 hours a day. I have to stock up with cans from public fountains for domestic needs, in a family like mine, made up of 5 members, including children. In practice I lived with my parents for a week as nomads (without offending anyone), obviously after various reports made on the Acquedotto Lucano website and without any response. We are at the mercy of luck, hoping that storms will help our fate, not having (perhaps, unfortunately) friends with the strong powers of the capital who are busy celebrating victories or dividing up seats, careless of the needs of the citizens, the same ones who voted for them in the last elections, many of whom celebrated together with the winners, with the hope that they can recommend them or help them in the future. I publicly express the disgust I feel for politics and all its members. I hope that someone’s conscience (if they ever had one) will awaken, so that they can work seriously in the service of the community that pays them. Thank you
