Estra Pistoia looks ahead. The work undertaken by the president of the youth sector Stefano Della Rosa and the manager Cristiano Biagini has for some time taken the path that leads to training boys first and then players who can be useful prospects for the first team. The five-year agreement that the club has reached with the Italian-Argentine player Gianluca Fabi, 15 years old, who from next September will arrive in the red and white jersey to defend the colors of Pistoia Basket Junior, falls within this perspective. One of the most interesting prospects of his age, born in 2009, in Argentina, he demonstrates a clear intent on the part of the club: to invest in the youth sector and strengthen it significantly. Fresh winner of the Under 15 title with the team where he played until a few days ago, namely Club del Progreso, he is ready to arrive in our city to continue his period of growth. “We are very happy to have brought him to Italy – says the sports director of Estra Pistoia Basket, Marco Sambugaro – I thank Pablo Filloy who is his current reference for having pointed him out to us some time ago. He is an interesting boy: clearly he will have to work very calmly since he is 15 years old and, consequently, there will be no shortage of work for him. With Stefano Della Rosa and Cristiano Biagini we have glimpsed in him, however, qualities and potential that we liked: now he will have to begin a growth path within our youth sector”. “I am very happy to be able to come to Italy – says the new red and white Gianluca Fabi – because since I was a child my dream has always been to become a basketball player and I think this is a big step to make it happen. I know that Pistoia is a great team that plays in A1, that works very well and with order: this was one of the reasons why I thought that the best club I could come to was Pistoia. From now on, therefore, I am ready to arrive in Italy and win many things together”.
