Bologna armored on the occasion of Tour de France. For the stage of the Big loop on Sunday, the Police Headquarters deploys around a hundred men and special units to guarantee safety together with the other law enforcement agencies and the organizers of the event.
The cyclists will pass through Imola, Dozza, Castel San Pietro Terme, Ozzano dell’Emilia, San Lazzaro di Savena, Pianoro and Bologna and the roads will be patrolled by police and organization personnel. A reinforcement that is more necessary than ever, also in view of the traffic police strike. The police headquarters, in fact, has made it known that it will monitor “the critical points of the route to also make up for the strike in which the local police of Bologna is joining”.
The Tour will arrive in the city between 4pm and 4.30pm and will see a double passage in San Luca and the arrival in via Irnerio, with a finish line in Piazza VIII Agosto. The passage of the runners along the route will be preceded by two hours by the passage of the advertising caravan. Both this and the runners will be escorted by the traffic police. The police will be present in the affected areas of the city, specifies the police headquarters already present tonight to “prevent any situations that could create problems along the route and monitor the state of the places”.
The ‘yellow race’ also revolutionizes city traffic. All roads crossed by the route will be subject to closure and parking ban with different times, as early as three hours before the race switches to the fastest average and up to 15 minutes after the passage of the vehicle with the mobile ‘end of cycling race’ sign. Finally, the State Police has set up reconnaissance services with the units of the Bologna Flight Department for the patrolling of the area throughout the event and specific services anti-pickpocketing, with plainclothes personnel, in the places affected by the event; added to this are the crews engaged in ordinary territorial control activities. The activities will be coordinated by the Joint Operations Room at the Police Headquarters.
