Farmaè Viareggio’s journey in the Italian Beach Soccer Cup ends in the semi-final, due to the defeat (1-3) against Catania Fc in Torre Faro (Messina). The black and whites must settle for the final for third placescheduled for tomorrow (June 30) at 4.30 pm.
The Chronicle
Corosiniti lines up Carpita, Ozu, Zè Lucas, Léo Martins and Remedi in the starting quintet. The Bianconeri’s start was convincing: Léo Martins needed just 7 seconds to scare the Etna team with a deflected left foot, then it was Ozu tries with a left that Gean Pietro is ready for. The most significant opportunity came in the 4th minute, with Gori unable to correct Bertacca’s long-range effort into the net. Catania Fc proves to be extremely effective and capable of making the most of the opportunities available, as happens in the 9th minute, when following an action developed on the right, Camillo Augusto extends for Eudin who pierces Carpita from close range. The reaction of the VBS is immediate but not supported by good luck: in the 10th minute, in fact, Bertacca hits the crossbar with a paw on a corner by Fazzini, then the Azzurri defender sends it just wide. A few seconds from the end of the half, the Etna team doubles with a left-footed cross shot by Jordan on an invitation from Camillo Augusto.
At the start of the central half, Farmaè Viareggio risks again, with a left-footed shot from Jordan lifted into a corner by Carpita. In the 7th minute, a double chance for Léo Martins, who first sees his free kick blocked by Gean Pietro, then hits the post on the rebound. The Catania Fc goalkeeper repeats his efforts on Ozu’s shot. VBS continues to press in search of a goal that would allow them to get back into the game, but the Etna team defends well.
The third half immediately sees the Catania FC dangerous with Camillo Augusto’s imprecise right-footer. The Bianconeri respond with Carpita’s long-range attempt corrected by Gori, Bruno Xavier clears. And it is the Brazilian, former player, who invents a feat in the 4th minute that allows Catania FC to take the lead 3-0, a curling shot that touches the inside of the post and ends up in the net. In the 8th minute Léo Martins misses the target from a good position, then Ozu hits the crossbar with a stone from far away, emulated in the 10th minute by Carpita. The Bianconeri’s only goal came too late – 46 seconds from the end – with the free throw converted by Bertacca.
