Civil and military authorities, but also many citizens this morning for the reopening ceremony of the Church of Capo Quarto of San Pietro a Coppitoafter the consolidation and restoration works after the 2009 earthquake. Presiding over the reopening Holy Mass was Cardinal Joseph Petrocchi. Present the MIC regional secretary for Abruzzodoctor Matthew Pisitogether with the project manager, the architect Anthony DiStefano and the technicians of the Ministry who took turns in leading the works, and representatives of Abruzzo Regionwith the vice president Emanuele Imprudentee Municipality of L’Aquilawith several councilors and advisors.
As illustrated by the architect Of Stefano al Capital of Abruzzo through the images of Daniele Cantalini, fragments of frescoes in the apse area and, in particular, a fresco on the left side wall of the altar which represents the Madonna with the Dead Christ. The overall re-consolidation and restoration intervention carried out by the MIC Regional Secretariat for Abruzzo was financed with two CIPE resolutions of 2012 and 2017, of 4 million and 750 thousand euros and 500 thousand euros respectively.
