On 29 July 2024 the Municipality of Varese should, in a public meeting, make known what the proposals are for renovation for the “Franco Ossola” stadium who adhered to the November 2023 notice after the presentation made by the Città di Varese football club together with Aurora Stadium.
From the presentation held at the Palace Hotel last November (read here), the Municipality of Varese has twice extended the deadline, originally scheduled for the end of March 2024, first to June and then to July. Two postponements that the red and white fans and enthusiasts did not welcome positively, so much so that a few days ago – in addition to banners – signs also appeared to announce the death of the Masnago sports facility (read here).
A few hours ago, the actions of those who are “pro-stadium” were also put online, with a public petition on the website petizioni.com (here is the link).
This is the text attached to the petition:
We, the undersigned, turn to the Municipal Administration with this petition to express our profound concern regarding the construction of a new stadium in Varese.
We firmly believe that the creation of a new sports facility and the redevelopment of the entire area can form the basis for the rebirth of professional football in Varese.
In light of the above, we urgently ask that the following actions be taken:
1. Respect the July 29 deadline for expressions of interest in the tender for the new stadium.
2. Use and apply the stage law, avoiding other methods that would require significantly longer timescales.
We believe that these measures are essential so that private individuals who have expressed interest in the construction of the new stadium and the redevelopment of the entire area can proceed without impediments.
