The first 4,516,716 Euros have been assigned to the Province of Benevento by the Campania Region for the start of work to complete the Fondo Valle Vitulanese arterial road.
This was communicated by the President of the Province of Benevento Nino Lombardi who received the relevant regional Executive Decree: the Director of the Infrastructure Sector of the Province Angelo Carmine Giordano can now effectively hand over the construction site to the company entrusted with the works.
President Lombardi expressed his satisfaction with the news which gives the go-ahead to one of the most important public road works that the Samnite Province has on the agenda together with the completion of another fast road, the Fondo Valle Isclero, and a trunk of the Strada Fortorina between Foiano Valfortore. and Montefalcone Valfortore., while new buildings serving secondary schools are also being built.
Lombardi commented on the event as follows: «the Fondo Valle Vitulanese is a road project destined to have formidable positive effects for the numerous Municipalities of the Valley and for the interrelations between the districts of Sannio, creating better and more efficient economic and commercial relations». The President then added: «I am happy to be able to finally say that today the complex and tormented decision-making and technical phase of a project that has been awaited for many years, at least since the CIPE financed the completion of the road axis penetrating the Valley in 2016, has come to an end. The aim is to break the isolation in which numerous Municipalities and numerous productive, entrepreneurial and commercial activities still find themselves today. The completion of the road axis of the Fondo Valle Vitulanese mobilizes a total of over 46 million Euros and to reach today’s Decree it was necessary to work hard to coordinate and dialogue with this Presidency with the Campania Region, the regional mobility company aCAMIR, the local institutions, and in particular with the Municipality of Vitulano and the citizens themselves, so that the financial resources were not diverted for other purposes and in other territories. Once again I thank all these Subjects who collaborated with a constructive spirit to resolve the numerous difficulties and overcome the notable obstacles that had arisen on this front. Sannio has an extraordinary need to finally see a complete material infrastructure network built that is adequate for the needs of the community to overcome a condition of intolerable marginality. We are mobilized to collect further pieces of an infrastructural mosaic that is the guarantee for future development”.
