What a pleasure to sit in a park and enjoy unique sandwiches and good traditional dishes, accompanied by a cocktail, a beer or a glass of wine

We are in Bologna in Zigo & Zago Kiosk a few steps from the central station. Here the Graziella Fava Garden it has been the subject of a redevelopment by the municipal administration, which involved the association Fava’s Regazactive in multi-ethnic youth integration and in making this green area cleaner, safer and more liveable. It does this through park care and micro-cleaning interventions but, above all, by organizing basketball games and tournaments that become occasions for happy aggregation.

Among the various initiatives to renew the livability of the Park, the Municipality has planned arefreshment area which opened in December 2023. The Zigo & Zago kioskcreated by chefs Daniele Simonetti e Ivan Polettihas further improved the attendance of this city space, attracting both families and gourmets eager to try delicious and unusual dishes for a kiosk.

The two owners are well known in Bologna for a very respectable career. In addition to long international experiences, Daniel Simonetti he proved his talent in the kitchens of the first Fourghettiof the CaBo and of Azzoguidi Housejust to name a few examples, while Ivan Poletti he conquered local palates by cooking at the Bentivoglio winery, Ca’ Shin e De’ Rossi Palace.

It was obvious that professionals of this caliber would not create a simple refreshment point for drinks, ice creams or common street food, but what bring added value both from an aesthetic and food and wine point of view.

Zigo & Zagoin fact, is a wooden structure designed by the studio Out of the Box; elegant and modern, it harmonizes perfectly in the green context of the Fava Garden. On its sides, the basketball court which allows you to participate in a beautiful story of integration, with kids who share a passion for team sport.

What do you eat at Zigo & Zago, and how much do you spend?

The service is informal but polite and fast, with compostable tableware in compliance with the rules of the park which is frequented by many children (there is also a reserved area for dogs). Daniele Simonetti’s kitchen offers simple and succulent dishes that follow the Italian tradition and seasonalitywithout disdaining a creative touch that makes the difference compared to classic street food.

There is no shortage of crescentine with cheeses and cured meats (from 2 to 5 €) but also the Sicilian panelle (5€) and classic first courses from tortellini (10€) garlic gnocchi (7€), from skewers (from €7) to Tripe (7€).

The card is renewed frequently and if it is winter pasta and beanswith the heat it is replaced with a cooler one Vegetable couscousspecialties such as the lamprey o to coratella.

A specialty of Zigo & Zago is the “Sphere sandwich”, a sandwich filled in various ways and which is then sealed at the edges with a plate, becoming a treasure chest that is crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.

To accompany the food, you can choose between wine, beer and cocktails, including non-alcoholic ones, prepared by bartender Chiara Ravaldi. Among the wines by the glassthe Emilia-Romagna area is more represented but there is also some extra-region references.
