Lecce, how Diego Farias’ career is going

A year later, finally back on the field. It was he who said it directly, the protagonist of the story we want to tell you this morning, a former striker ofLecce Sports Union.

Where did it go?

We are talking about Diego Fariasformer attacking winger for Lecce and Cagliari who, through his social media channels, celebrated his return to the pitch after a year of forced inactivity. He returned to the field wearing the jersey of Sao Bento, a team that plays in the lower divisions of the Brazilian championship.

His last appearances dated back to the 2022/2023 season, when he wore the Benevento shirt in the Serie B championship, failing to save the Samnites from a painful and unexpected relegation, despite his 22 appearances with 3 goals and 4 assists.

Then, traces of him were lost. He had signed with Atlhetic Club, a Brazilian team with which, however, he seems to have never made his debut. Now, however, at 34 years old he has returned to play and he did so with the smile that has always distinguished him throughout his career.

His experience in Salento

He arrived in Lecce with the Giallorossi team in Serie A. He should have represented a prominent element of that squad but in the end he was unable to find continuity of performance, showing only a few flashes of his talent.

He played a total of 19 matches with the Salento club, scoring 2 goals and providing 2 assists in the league and the Italian Cup.

In his career, given his technical qualities and his speed with the ball at his feet, he could certainly have achieved more. Unfortunately, however, the physical problems and the lack of playing time in almost all of his experiences have affected him a lot, not allowing us to ever admire him in his best form.

Now, Farias’ goal is to end his career with dignity, playing in his homeland and having fun with the ball at his feet.
