Alternative route also for motorists in the Grassano and Gravina areas: The bridge on provincial road 8 closes
Twenty days during which a part of the Matera area will have difficulties in road connections.
In fact, a note from the Province announces works that will start from 8 to 28 July on the “Torrente Gravina” bridge which is located at kilometer 2+700 of Provincial Road 8.
These are essentially consolidation operations which however will influence the connections of many municipalities with the provincial capital.
This is demonstrated by the long list of recipients of the communication.
In addition to the Prefecture, traffic police, carabinieri, firefighters, forestry, the note was also sent to mayors of the district who reach nearby Puglia such as Grassano and Gravina. Anas and 118 are also among the recipients.
The road section is affected by consolidation works. In particular, where the bridge is located, with an executive project approved in February 2023 for an amount equal to 252,491.30 euros.
The issue of road connections in the province of Matera remains one of the most important aspects also due to the orographic particularity of the territory. In particular, in the sections that connect to arteries such as the 407 Basentana or the 7 Matera-Ferrandina, there are still unresolved problems.
The result is a rather bumpy road “map” which, in winter in particular, makes the consequences felt more seriously.
Not to mention the issue of security which remains central and requires more structural and long-term interventions.
The internal areas are in fact affected by this situation with patchy situations that guarantee better accessibility only in some areas and force others, on the contrary, to difficult management with problems for categories such as students and workers who are called upon to make greater sacrifices in winter with bad weather or snow, making the daily journey by car even more difficult.
