Sassari. San Giovanni is preparing for a week of great celebrations with spectacular events that will attract thousands of spectators. The organization, curated by the cultural association Comitato Festeggiamenti San Giovanni Battista, celebrates its tenth anniversary with two unmissable days.

Since 2014, the association has brought regionally and nationally renowned artists to the San Giovanni stage, including Tazenda, Collage, Maria Giovanna Cherchi, Istentales, Eugenio Finardi, Antonella Ruggiero, Bianca Atzei, Shade and Carolina Marquez. Fun was also ensured by well-known cabaret artists and comedians such as Baz, Pino e gli Anticorpi, Paolo Migone, Uccio De Santis, Antonio Mezzancella and Nuzzo and Di Biase, as well as DJs such as Pippo Palmieri and DJ Osso.

The celebrations begin on Friday 28 June at 10pm with the dance show “Memories 2000”. This show dedicated to the 2000s will bring to the stage the songs that marked the new millennium, with national DJs, dancers, special effects and lots of audience involvement. The evening will be opened and closed by the young local DJ Gabry DJ.

The highlight of the civil celebrations will be Saturday 29 June with the eagerly awaited performance by Anna Tatangelo at 10:00 pm. The famous singer, with eight appearances at the Sanremo Festival, eight studio albums and over 20 platinum records, will present a unique and modern show. Anna Tatangelo’s last appearance in north-west Sardinia dates back to 2007. In San Giovanni, she will perform her greatest hits such as “Ragazza di Periferia”, “Muchacha”, “Essere una donna” and her new single “Mantra”. The opening of the concert will be entrusted to the singer Berny Spanu, while the closing of the evening and the party will be curated by the DJ set of Riccardo Barone.

All evenings are free to enter and the organization offers free (unattended) parking near the party, as well as food stands, drink kiosks and exhibition stands in the event area.

The events also include religious events starting from Monday 24 June with the celebrations of the nativity of St. John the Baptist, including the holy mass in the morning and the procession to the river with the statue of the saint in the evening. The cultural association Comitato Festeggiamenti San Giovanni Battista thanks Don Marcello Piredda, the population of San Giovanni, the sponsors, the Municipality of Sassari, the police and all those who contributed to the organization of the festival.
