And beautiful project of civilization, use technology to reduce the differences for the visually impaired and blind.

“With the “LETIsmart” project, the city of Sassi becomes more accessible”.

This is what the Mayor of Matera says, Domenico Bennardi which continues:

“Guided routes throughout the city, with special hotspots, electronic beacons read by a special smart stick.

An initiative carried out by the municipal administration which donated seven LETIsmart canes to the Union of the Blind, in collaboration with the national and provincial UICI itself.

Today with us also the creator of this system Marino Attini, member of the Uici National Directorate, who for this patent, offered free of charge, was awarded the title of Knight of Merit of the Italian Republic by President Mattarella;

himself he stressed that Matera is the only city where this project has been taken into consideration in its entirety and this makes us very proud.

But the collaboration with the Blind Union will remain active to add more hotspots and carry out other initiatives.

Also speaking at the press conference were the National President of UICI Mario Barbuto, the president of the UICI section of Matera Giuseppe Lanzillo and Cinzia Cosimi of the Lions Trieste Host club.

Also present were councilors Angelo Cotugno, Angela Mazzone and councilor Lucianna Stigliani.

In the press conference I also wanted to mention and remember the commitment of the former councilor Michelangelo Ferrara who had worked to get the project started”.
