The Tour in Romagna: the tribute to Marco Pantani

The Tour will cross the entire SS 72, reaching the new roundabout between the San Marino highway and the State Road 16 «Adriatica». Then enter the SS 16 southwards up to the Befane roundabout where it will enter the town centre of Rimini and, through Viale Settembrini, Viale Chiabrera and Viale Firenze, it will reach Viale Regina Elena, the parallel of the seafront. It will continue on this last street until Piazzale Gondar where it will reach Lungomare Di Vittorio, in a northerly direction, until it crosses the finish line (located at the height of bathroom 72).

As far as times are concerned, the “Grand Depart” of the Tour De France is set for 12pm on Saturday 29 June in Florence from Piazza delle Cascine. In Rimini, the streets affected by the passage of the runners will first be crossed by the advertising caravan (made up of over 100 vehicles) which will arrive at the finish line at 4.05pm. The arrival of the first runners is expected at around 5.34pm, again at beach 72.

How the road system is changing in Rimini

The atmosphere will be made even hotter by the substantial coincidence with Italy’s match for the round of 16 against Switzerland, scheduled for 6 pm: after having witnessed the arrival of the “grande Boucle”, many will flock to the pubs and clubs – many already sold out – to cheer on the Azzurri. For residents and tourists, traffic will be completely changed with diversions that require public transport and especially bicycles to be preferred to cars.

The motorway toll booth is closed

The Rimini-Sud motorway toll booth will be closed, on exit, on Saturday 29 June from 2 pm to 6 pm, and on entry from 5 pm until the tender passes. In the city, the parking lot on Viale Chiabrera, where the tour service vehicles park, has already been closed. The Lungomare Di Vittorio is also closed in the section from Via La Città delle Donne and via La Voce della Luna and from Piazzale Gondar to Piazzale Benedetto Croce.
