Monday 1st July the third stage of the Tour de France takes place, Piacenza-Turin. With its 230.5 kilometers it will be the longest stage del 111° Tour de France e an extraordinary postcard of Piedmont.

The stage starts from Piacenza, then enters Piedmont from Pontecurone and Tortona, with a Mountain Grand Prix on the Castello climb called “Tortone Coast – Fausto Coppi” in memory of the great Piedmontese champion.

The 60.5 km route in the province of Alessandria will also pass by San Giuliano Vecchio, Alessandria, Bergamasco, Carentino, Castellazzo Bormida, Oviglio and Viguzzolo. Then you will go for 32 km in the province of Asti touching Bruno, Calamandrana, Calosso, Canelli, Castagnole of Lanze, Costigliole d’Asti, Mombaruzzo and Nizza Monferratoand we will continue in the province of Cuneo for 51.5 km passing through Alba, Baldissero d’Alba, Barbaresco hill, Ceresole d’Alba, Corneliano d’Alba, Guarene, Neive, Piobesi d’Alba, Santo Stefano Belbo, Sommariva Perno and Treiso; finally the yellow caravan will travel 34.2 km through Turin Carignano, Carmagnola, Nichelino, Piobesi, Vinovo and then enter Turin from Corso Unione Sviluppo up to Corso Bramante, turn left onto Corso Lepanto and left again on Corso Galileo Ferraris until the finish line located in front of Piazzale Grande Torino.

Sprinters will have their first chance to shine along superb scenery, where any breakaways from some riders will have difficulty staying out of the way and avoiding a bunch sprint.
