It will come Indeed formally awarded todayat 12 in front of the investigating judge, the task of carrying out the tests was assigned to Professor Emiliano Giardina, expert in medical genetics at the Tor Vergata University of Rome. The super expert will have to carry out the DNA tests taking into account the requests presented by the defense of theLouis Dassilva investigated and the tests as already requested by the prosecutor in charge of the file Daniele Paci. There are essentially two foundations on which the carrying out of the unrepeatable technical investigations will rest, as requested by the defense and prosecution. The first concerns attribution of paternity of biological traces which will be found: if attributable to the suspect or, in the case of profiles unrelated to the 34-year-old metalworker, to third parties to be identified by consulting the National DNA Database. The second key principle will instead be the definition of timing and of the method of depositing biological traces on Pierina’s body or on the objects that will be analyzed.
This is a direct effect of the fact that the investigating judge deemed the request for an evidentiary hearing “relevant” to the investigation, since if the expert opinion were ordered during the hearing it could lead to a suspension of more than sixty days. Hence the acceptance of the request and the subsequent one provision of an extension of the deadline for preliminary investigationsdepending on the time needed to gather evidence, taking into account what is defined as the “foreseeable complexity of the evidentiary incident”, the precise questions of which will be specified today when the assignment is conferred.
After almost 10 hours of interrogation of the suspect in the Prosecutor’s Officeit will therefore now be the findings and the DNA that ‘speak’, to provide the investigators with the missing piece in the investigation, i.e. the truth of the objects and the analyses, in the now nine-month long attempt to finally give an answer to the Question: who killed Pierina Paganelli?
