Well yes, peanuts are also grown in Sicily, to be precise Fulgatore, a hamlet of Trapani where we went to visit thePier Filippo Moalli Agricultural Company, but the surprises don’t end there, because Pierre, for his friends, is also a true Bergamo DOC.

Indeed Peter was born in Gallarate, in the province of Milan, to a mother from Bergamo and a father from Varese, where he studied agriculture thanks to his Sicilian uncle who was an agricultural producer in Fulgatore, in the province of Trapani, where he spent his holidays as a child. Evidently that contact with the earth and nature must have affected Pierre, indicating the path to follow once he became an adult.

Instead, as far as peanuts are concerned, they arrive in Fulgatore starting from Senegal, producing country, but also of origin of Gibril, a collaborator of Pierre, who having cultivated them in his land also introduced them in theAgricola Moalli. Peanuts are part of the large peanut family legumes, and are rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, potassium, iron and fibre, but watch out for the calories, they are very energetic.

The company has always operated in its 14 hectares with organic techniques and hand-made processes, but only recently has it undergone conversion, therefore it will soon also be able to display the typical brand, an indisputable added value for peanuts, but also for all other high-quality products. Pierre: artichokes, “exotic” cabbage, fennel, broccoli, etc. etc. today conveyed through Coldiretti Friendly Campaign and through the website www.agricolamoalli.com

With peanuts Moalli also produces the well-known and improperly defined “butter”, which also boasts interesting nutritional properties and in the case of Pierre it is offered in two versions: classic and with grains, both two true concentrates of flavor without the use of special additives, depending on the version, only a pinch of sugar and/or salt, or a little of peanut seed oil.
