Milan transfer market, exchange with Newcastle?

The summer transfer market is getting into full swing for Milan. The Rossoneri, who will be led on the bench next season by Paulo Fonseca, who took over from Stefano Pioli, want to shore up the squad in order to meet the needs of the Portuguese coach. There are many issues to resolve, starting with the one regarding Olivier Giroud’s heir, who will move to MLS to Los Angeles FC (Joshua Zirkzee the dream, Romelu Lukaku the alternative). Fonseca, however, is reportedly pressuring the management to purchase a new right-back and the name in the crosshairs is said to be Kieran Trippier, currently playing with his England team at Euro 2024.

Trippier currently plays in the Premier League for Newcastle, a club he joined on a permanent basis in January 2022 after experiences with Burnley, Tottenham and Atletico Madrid. The full-back’s contract will expire in 2025 and this could allow Milan to play downwards on the possible purchase price of the card. The Rossoneri, however, could further reduce (if not cancel) the cash part by including Malick Thiaw, a German defender who is liked by the Magpies and valued by the Devil at around 25 million euros, in the operation. The issue, however, would remain the Englishman’s high salary (over three million euros net per season). Precisely for this reason, the negotiation has not yet taken off, but developments in the coming weeks cannot be ruled out.
