Here is the G7 Education in Friuli Venezia Giulia: from the inauguration of the youth forum in Lignano to the Trieste summit

Ribbon ideally cut and inauguration took place for “YoungG7 for Education”, the four-day training course dedicated to hundreds of students and professors with a focus on art, music, sport, food and digital media, which will be held in Lignano Sabbiadoro (until Saturday) in parallel with the meeting of education ministers of the G7 countries, within the current Italian presidency, scheduled in Trieste.

Four days, as mentioned, in which students and teachers will delve into the main issues on education, present and future, trying to outline a common and as homogeneous picture as possible.

The inauguration in Lignano

The official baptism of the event took place yesterday evening (Wednesday 26 June) in Lignano Pineta when, in Piazzale Marcello D’Olivo, the Minister of Education Giuseppe Valditara showed up, accompanied by the undersecretary in the same department, Paola Frassinetti, the president of Friuli Venezia Giulia Massimiliano Fedriga and the number one of the regional council Mauro Bordin.

A presentation, that of Lignano, born and raised to the rhythm of modern and ancient music – but rigorously made in Italy -, national anthems – with all the kids standing at the moment in which Mameli’s song rang out -, dancing and applause from the representatives of the ten delegations present in Friuli Venezia Giulia.

«I thank Valditara because I am convinced that this G7 ministerial meeting – said Fedriga – is among the most important, indeed perhaps the most important. Because it talks about the future, the challenge of education and education. Our most precious asset is human capital. These are the guys who these days will transform the region into the world capital of the future of the West. The invitations to the African Union and, above all, to Ukraine represent a fundamental signal sent by Italy and the ministry.”

Fedriga then sent a precise message to the almost 400 students present in the square: «We must never take our democracy for granted – the gloss -. We must fight, together, to keep democracy and freedom alive.” And if Frassinetti spoke of the minister’s «brilliant intuition», Valditara analyzed the meaning of the four days in the North East. «It is a moment of great joy and beauty – he argued – with hundreds of students gathered in Lignano, many of whom come from distant countries, but here to celebrate a fundamental reality like school. I ask young people to bring me ideas, proposals and suggestions because I believe in the school of listening, which enhances our children and the talents of each student. Our aim, however, must be to give young people back the enthusiasm to build a life for themselves.”

The program

After yesterday’s appetizer, the Lignano weekend program begins this morning, from 9am to 6pm, with a series of educational workshops: exactly seven, a number which, not surprisingly, also represents the figure after the “G” of the Greats . Appointments which, in detail, will be divided into those dedicated to students (council room), schools (of the Council), arts (municipal library), music (magna room of the Carducci institute), sport (Bella Italia beach), food ( Iss Mattei), Medialab (municipal library) and training for teachers (municipal library). Then there is also space for school buildings, the valorisation of the ITS Academy and the Nextgen 7.

Tomorrow’s program is intense and includes, in the morning, the following field workshops: YounG7 students (at the Miramare castle in Trieste), YounG7 schools (Aquileia and San Vito al Tagliamento), arts (Spilimbergo and Gorizia), food (Miramare, including the meeting with the starred chef Matteo Metullio), music (Ic Carducci), sport (Bella Italia beach) and Medialab (municipal library).
