With a very good twelfth place in race 1, Thomas Benetti closed his first participation in an official World Superbike race with an excellent performance. The fifteen-year-old motorcyclist from Stazzema thus got noticed again, for his driving skills and his innate talent. He would certainly have done well in race 2 too if he hadn’t been rammed by another driver in the race after the very first corners. However, he managed to place first among the wild cards, i.e. the guest motorcyclists who are invited to do tests in the official races.
“He could have definitely gotten close to the podium in race 2 – explain the team at Full Gas Racing Team, the association to which Tommy belongs – because the ice was broken and he was getting used to the bike, a Yamaha 300 that he was riding for the first time. It must be said that in race 1 too, Thomas raced with problems with the front brake that did not allow him to make optimal braking before entering the curve”.
However, the Moto X Racing team who invited him to compete in the R3 WorldCup category really liked the boy from Versilia. In fact he will be back on track with them this weekend in Misano, again in Superbike, but this time in the Italian R3 Cup championship. Where he will essentially find the same riders who were in the top positions two Sundays ago. It will be another opportunity to aim for the podium and continue to place positive results in his palmares.
