“Flight prices, especially in the summer season, undergo increases of up to 800% and Sicilians who have to reach healthcare facilities without having the possibility to plan them, often have to face very serious organizational and economic inconveniences. This is unacceptable and something must be done immediately.”
This was said today by the ARS group leader Michele Catanzaro, the first signatory of a question from the regional PD deputies to the President of the Region, the Councilor for the Economy and the Councilor for the Family, Social Policies and Work, with which urge concrete actions to help Sicilian families forced to travel to hospitals in Northern Italy due to the long-standing shortcomings of the regional healthcare system.
“To keep costs down, sick people are often forced to buy plane tickets with stopovers in other cities and make unnerving waits. This condition for a sick person is unacceptable – says Catanzaro – the regional government must intervene urgently”.
The question asks whether there is the political will to initiate any agreements with one or more airlines to reduce the price of return tickets to and from Sicily, even if booked immediately upon departure, subject to declaration by the traveler that they are necessary for health reasons.
