From the Romagna Riviera to the Middle East. Piero Moretti – a ready-to-wear clothing brand founded in Rimini in 1969 and already well known abroad (65% of its turnover comes from exports) – recently inaugurated its first single-brand store in Kuwait City . Managed by Starco Group, a leading retail (from English, distribution and trade) company in the Middle East, the new store offers an exclusive selection of Piero Moretti collections.

The objective – the company announced in a note – is to continue its expansion, “bringing true ‘made in Italy’ and artisanal production to customers in the Middle East”.

The year was 1969 when the founder Piero Moretti intercepted the international scope of tourism in Rivera and decided to transform his tailoring atelier into a real company: today Moretti Moda, which has its headquarters in via Emilia Mariani, is led by second generation, represented by the sons Fabrizio and Andrea, with their respective wives and a team of around 30 people. Andrea Moretti also holds the role of vice president of Confartigianato Imprese Rimini. Present in over 700 boutiques around the world – from Russia to Japan – the company recently closed a turnover of more than 6 million euros and specializes in women’s clothing (with sizes from 40 to 60). From fabrics to accessories, all garments are entirely made in Italy.

Together with other brands located between Rimini and San Giovanni in Marignano, Piero Moretti is part – it is worth remembering – of the so-called ‘clothing district’ of Rimini. A hub which, according to the latest monitor of the Emilia-Romagna industrial districts, released by the Intesa San Paolo Studies and Research Directorate, recorded a positive export balance in 2023, with an increase of 5.6% compared to 2022. The result is even more relevant in a critical year for the Italian fashion system, due to the uncertainty on international markets and generalized price increases due to rising inflation.
