There were no last-minute surprises: Ademaro Cordoni is the new president of Confcommercio Imprese per l’Italia – Provinces of Lucca and Massa Carrara. The appointment was confirmed yesterday evening by the board of directors of the Palazzo Sani association, which expressed itself by acclamation with a long round of applause in favor of Cordoni’s return to the helm of the organization. On the other hand, the premises pointed in one direction. Almost 200 signatures were presented by the categories in support of Cordoni, almost double the amount required by the Statute of the Palazzo Sani association.
His return to the leadership of the Palazzo Sani association – of which he had actually also remained in the role of honorary president – coincides with the farewell to the association of Rodolfo Pasquini who, after more than 40 years, leaves Confcommercio after having covered every role, from official to director (even during the years of Cordoni’s presidency) and finally president. Cordoni had already been president of Confcommercio Imprese from 2008 to 2020.
In the “presentation” speech that preceded the election last night at Palazzo Sani, Cordoni thanked Pasquini and touched on some salient points of his program, also announcing the appointment of Umberto Tenucci as honorary president and of Giuliano Pacini as honorary president of restaurateurs. The passage in which the new president decisively closes the door to any hypothesis of merger with Confcommercio Pisa or other Confcommercio is significant. “To our young people we intend to leave the Association as it is now,” he said. “One of the objectives of this project which opens tonight – added Cordoni – is precisely to create a ruling class of expert and young people, and then leave the leadership of the Association in the hands of the latter. Space for young people, therefore, with a view to involving all the territories within our competence: our team will be representative of the cities of Lucca, Massa, Carrara and Viareggio, of the territories of the Media Valle and Garfagnana, of Versilia and the Coast Apuana, to reach Lunigiana”.
“We intend to add a new parallel body to the interprovincial council, the traditional ‘governing’ body of the Association – announced Cordoni –. A policy body independent in names and tasks with respect to the council, made up of entrepreneurs who know how to indicate new routes to follow. Within an entrepreneurial world that is constantly evolving and capable of opening up ever new scenarios, which the Association will have the task of following.” The declared objective is to strengthen services in all offices. “We are ready to do so, knowing that we can count on highly trained officials led by a director like Sara Giovannini, an excellent leader of a team that fears no comparison.” “But more than any other objective – he commented –, the true mission of our Confcommercio will be to support its members, to be at their side every day”.
