This morning the new Equality Councilor of the Province of Pescara Paola Sardella took office, appointed by decree of the Ministry of Labour, which gave her the delicate task of protecting gender in the workplace, monitoring the implementation of the principles of equality, equal opportunities and non-discrimination of workers, regardless of their gender, promoting positive actions in this sense.
The Equality councillor, Paola Sardella, will remain in office for 4 years and the appointment can be extended. The figure in the Province had been missing for four years and thanks to the administration by Ottavio De Martinis, she will be able to resume her role. Paola Sardella, is also president of the Equal Opportunities Commission of the Municipality of Montesilvano, has an important experience in the world of the trade union, in the regional Equal Opportunities Commission and in her employment as an INPS official, she has held positions not only for women victims of violence but also in the offices on women’s employment. In the Province you will continue your commitment to gender policies, as an attentive, esteemed and determined professional, above all for the protection of women in the world of work. At the presentation press conference, in the Daughter Room of Iorio, this morning, in addition to President De Martinis, also present were the president of the CPO of the Abruzzo Region, Maria Franca D’Agostino and the Equality Councilor of the Abruzzo Region, Anna Maria Rita Guarracino .
“I want to thank President Ottavio De Martinis – explains the new councilor of Equality Paola Sardella – whose support was invaluable when I decided to present my candidacy. My commitment will be to form a network between associations, institutions, unions and companies to destroy discrimination against women in the world of work. First of all, I will respond to the requests of the Ministry of Labor and Equal Opportunities, drawing up the periodic report of male and female staff in the years 2022-23, then I will carry out a collection of data regarding the companies of our Province: from the female presence to the contracts to any discrimination that arises within the workplace”.
President De Martinis underlined the importance of this figure in the Province: “The appointment of the Equality councillor, which took place based on merit and ability, fills us with pride through the ministry.
The task that Paola Sardella will carry out will be very delicate. Thus we resume a path interrupted four years ago by the Province for the affirmation of gender equality, which unfortunately has not yet been achieved and which must be pursued through a cultural path. The councillor, within the complex dynamics of work and female employment, will also deal with the conciliation of home-work times and company issues in specific cases. I have known councilor Sardella for several years and she has proven experience, as well as a great passion for everything she does and as president of the Province I am happy to make use of such a competent figure”. Satisfaction also from the president of the regional Equal Opportunities Commission: “With Paola Sardella we have already started a process of collaboration with the regional CPO and seeing her also in the role of Equality councilor of the Province of Pescara is a great pleasure for me – declared the president Maria Franca D’Agostino – . Your task is very important and you have the power to promote active legitimacy to take legal action on issues involving gender discrimination in employment”.
