At dawn on Tuesday 25 June the Mignano dam has reached the overflow level and the controlled overflow has begun which could lead to flooding in the next few hours along the Arda river downstream in the municipalities of Fiorenzuola, Cortemaggiore and San Pietro in Cerro. At 6 in the morning the river itself Arda has exceeded threshold 3 of the hydrometer recording a level of 1.9 metres. Also the Riglio it rose to reach threshold 2 on the hydrometer.

The Municipality of Cortemaggiorethrough its Facebook page, warns citizens of the areas most at risk flooding, «those of the San Martino hamlet towards the territories of Villanova and San Pietro in Cerro: via Villetto, via Gerbida-Cavanca, municipal road of Castellazzo and via Giardino. The situation is also serious in Valnure where the Municipal Operations Center has been activated in the Valnure Public Office in Pontedellolio: several interventions underway by firefighters due to flooding in the area between Pontedellolio – where the level has exceeded the yellow threshold – and Carmiano along state road 654. The Province of Piacenza constantly monitors its roads and bridges from the early afternoon of June 25th road traffic in the lower Val d’Arda it could become critical. The heavy rains that have hit and continue to hit the Piacenza area are causing significant flood phenomena in the waterways and significant flooding of roads and portions of the plains, in particular in the areas of the lower, medium and upper Val d’Arda affected from the Arda, Chiavenna and Riglio basins. The Provincial Road Service, which is monitoring the relevant roads and bridges with every available resource, informs that from early afternoon the road traffic could be critical especially in the municipal areas of Fiorenzuola, Caorso, Cortemaggiore, San Pietro in Cerro, Besenzone and Villanova sull’Arda.
