In the historic centre, the public lighting suspended in the middle of the street on via Umberto I and viale Regina Margherita fell to the ground when the steel cable that supported the lighting fixtures came loose. It is probable that the damage derives from the uprooting of a tree from Piazzale Bernini.

The State Police promptly intervened, blocking road traffic, including pedestrians, to ensure public safety.

There were over 100 calls to the fire brigade operations room for a tornado and a water bomb that hit the city of Rovigo and the province in the late morning: at the moment there is no news of injured people.

Requests for help due to flooding, uncovered roofs, unsafe trees, water damage. Mainly affected were the city of Rovigo, the municipalities of Lendinara and Lusia, where the greatest number of requests for intervention to the firefighters came from.

The rescue device of the Rovigo command was reinforced with the arrival of teams from neighboring commands. The rescue operations are coordinated from the crisis room by the commander of the Rovigo fire brigade, Claudio Fortucci, in contact with the prefecture and the civil protection representative.

The Prefect of Rovigo Clemente Di Nuzzo constantly monitored the evolution of the situation in contact with the Mayors of the Municipalities affected by the event, the Fire Brigade and the Police Forces, arranging the activation of the provincial intervention groups and means of civil protection.

The Rescue Coordination Center was promptly activated and met in the Prefecture late in the morning.

In the early afternoon, a further situation will be made on the state of the areas affected by the critical issues and on the damage recorded to buildings and structures, as well as on the evolution of the weather conditions.

Mayor Valeria Cittadin went to the areas hit by the storm. The new mayor wanted to personally verify the damage caused by the severe bad weather and the whirlwind that hit the city, bringing solidarity to traders and citizens.

The area most affected was the Aliper shopping center where a lot of damage occurred, both inside the center itself and outside, in particular in the fabric shop opposite which was uncovered.

Traders and citizens appreciated the closeness of the Mayor Cittadin who thanks the Local Police, the police forces and all the Civil Protection volunteers for the important work they are carrying out.
