The Veneto Data Platform project presented in Brussels – News

ROME – As part of the Digital Agenda of Veneto, the headquarters of the Veneto Region in Brussels hosted the “Veneto Data Platform”, an initiative promoted by the municipality of Padua together with 10 other urban authorities which aims to create a synergy in data management between the city and the region. “Our aim is to develop more effective public policies, optimize services for citizens and increase the competitiveness of our territory”, said Luca De Pietro, director of the ICT strategic unit of the Digital Agenda of the Veneto Region. The data, underlines De Pietro, will be “the added value of our future”.

The meeting was also an opportunity to learn about some good practices in the field of smart cities and smart lands at European and community level, as explained by Chiara Venturini, responsible for digital transformation and economic development at Eurocities. According to research, in fact, it is the EU itself that can offer support in overcoming the obstacles that cities encounter in digital transformation.

Looking ahead, the project will also affect sectors such as socio-health prevention, mobility, mobility services, agriculture and tourism with the final objective of “creating adigital twin’ of the city or region that allows operational decisions and planning decisions in all areas with a holistic approach”, concluded Alberto Corò, manager of the innovation and digital transition sector of the municipality of Padua, one of the virtuous protagonists of this initiative as well as its initiator.
