Castellammare – Discovering the Stabia Springs, an initiative to rediscover the identity of Castellammare di Stabia as a city of water
The Parco delle Acque di Stabia Foundation organizes a walk to discover the Ferrata and Visanola springs, led by the hydrogeologist Marco Cesario.

On Sunday 30 June, at 8.30 am, an event dedicated to the rediscovery of the historic waters of Castellammare di Stabia will be held. The initiative, organized by the newly formed “Parco delle Acque di Stabia” Participation Foundation, chaired by Nino Di Maio, has the aim of recovering the Stabia identity of “City of Water” and raising awareness among citizens of the importance of the water heritage local.
The route led by the hydrogeologist from Stabia Marco Cesario, currently a school director in Puglia, will take participants to discover the Ferrata and Visanola springs, the latter almost unknown to most. The itinerary will begin at the “Circolo della Legalità” in Corso Garibaldi, 6, where Prof. Cesario will introduce those present to the fascinating history and importance of the Stabia springs.
For about 10 years, the people of Stabia have been unable to fully enjoy their environmental heritage of water. This heritage, in light of the acceleration of global warming, takes on global importance. However, for too long, it has been neglected and literally thrown away
sea, making it unknown to new generations. Much of this heritage is subject to a testamentary legacy which obliges the citizens of Stabia to use it free of charge, but which was kept silent due to the impossibility of enjoying it.
Olimpia De Simone, founding member and board member of the Foundation, underlines the importance of this initiative: “We feel the need to talk about our waters and make them visible to everyone. This unique heritage in the world must be known and appreciated by everyone Stabia.”
The event represents an unmissable opportunity to rediscover a fundamental part of the identity of Castellammare di Stabia and to raise awareness among the community of the importance of protecting and enhancing local water resources.
