From 28 to 30 June “Livorno al Centro”, a festival of art, culture and entertainment, returns

Livorno, 25 June 2024 – Livorno al Centro starts, over 20 events on 15 stages. Lenzi: a widespread festival that embraces the whole city

The program of “Livorno al Centro. Livorno Art and Culture at the Center of Attention”, a festival of art, culture and entertainment which, like every year, will take place in the Livorno city with attractions of various kinds during the weekend, from Friday 28th to Sunday 30th June. All shows will be free.
The idea of the festival, now in its ninth edition, was born from the desire to relaunch the city center and from the desire to enhance the artistic and cultural talents of Livorno.
The festival, organized by the RIKI Cultural Association, is organized in partnership with the Municipality of Livorno and with the collaboration of the Goldoni Theater Foundation and other entities such as cultural associations, local artists, commercial activities, CCN, guides and tourist operators.
This edition will have 15 stages to enhance and revitalize some specific cultural centers in the area, with the involvement of 6 associations, creating a synergy of interventions by multiple cultural entities.
The initiative was presented at Palazzo Comunale by the Councilor for Culture Simone Lenzi, the organizer Riccardo Della Ragione and the director of the Goldoni Theater Foundation Mario Menicagli.
“When an event reaches its ninth edition – underlines councilor Lenzi – it means that it is now a consolidated event. What we have always liked about this event, meanwhile, is the fact that it is a widespread festival that in some way embraces the whole city, and what’s more, it truly originates from the bottom, in the sense that it involves the
traders and locals in the places where it takes place. Furthermore, it allows us to shine a light on the city’s talents.”
“Promoting this sharing between traders, operators in the entertainment sector and cultural associations – explains Riccardo Della Ragione, artistic director of the Festival – is the key to growing as a city by developing a stronger civic conscience. Cultivate and encourage our talents with the common goal of the cultural and tourist awakening of the city. Everyone makes their strengths available with the desire to network to put the city of Livorno with its peculiarities at the center.”
Also in this edition, the inaugural event of the festival will be the award ceremony for Livorno talents which will take place on Friday 28 June at 7pm in Piazza Attias. The young writer Sofia Debora Fusco and the line judge Giorgio Niccolai will receive the gold medal. The prizes will be presented by councilor Lenzi and the director of the Goldoni Theater Mario Menicagli together with the artistic director of the Festival Riccardo Della Ragione.
For the final day, Sunday 30 June, in front of the Darsena di Porta a Mare, the Opera Theater Concert is scheduled with the participation of the soprano Valentina Boi and the baritone Pedro Carrillo Perera, accompanied by the Ensemble Corallo. The arias chosen for the occasion will be interspersed with a reading by Luca Salemmi who will take us back to the times when the shipyard was born.
The concert (as well as the conference on painting on Saturday 29th curated by Michele Pierleoni which has the subtitle “Livorno and the Sea”) aims to underline the profound relationship of the people of Livorno with the sea and the history of that place which once hosted the old Orlando Shipyards.
Furthermore, this year the festival, in the Porta a Mare location, will host the Palio Marinaro awards ceremony on Sunday 30 June, at 7 pm.
The festival shows, which will alternate during the three days of programming, will begin in the morning at 10 am and will end by midnight. There will be over twenty events scheduled and more than one hundred artists will be involved.
