With the closing of the polls at 3pm today, Monday 24 June, the counting of votes for the second round of the run-off elections begins. The outcome of the vote count defines the new mayors chosen by the citizens for the administrative leadership of the cities of Samarate And Malnate.

In Samarate the new mayor is Alessandro Ferrazzi, who beat Enrico Puricelli: for the centre-left candidate who has signed an alliance with three other candidates (Luca Macchi, Alessio Sozzi and Alessandro Marco Cenci) 2,975 votes (53.44%), 800 more than in the first round, against the 2,592 of the rival supported by center-right (46.56%) which lost almost 600 between one round and the next. In Malnate, Nadia Cannito won after a close head-to-head with Sandro Damiani: she is the new mayor of Malnate with 2,710 (52.25%, 610 more than the first round) against the 2,477 of the centre-right coalition (47.75%, “only” a hundred more than the first round).

In Malnate there will be a majority of 7 municipal councilors from the Democratic Party, 2 from the Maria Croci Insieme list, 1 from Viviamo Malnatefor the minority there will be the mayoral candidates Irene Bellifemine and Paola Cassina and 1 seat for the civic list of Irene Bellifemine, while together with Sandro Damiano there will be 1 councilor each for Fratelli d’Italia and Malnate Ideale (outside Forza Italia and Lega ).

In Samarate in the majority alongside Alessandro Ferrazzi there will be 4 municipal councilors from the Democratic Party, 2 from the Samarate civic list at the center of Luca Macchi (municipal councilor together with the other two mayoral candidates related to Ferrazzi, Alessio Sozzi and Marco Alessandro Cenci) and 1 from Samarate Living City. On the opposition benches with Enrico Puricelli will be 3 city councilors from the League and 2 from Fratelli d’Italia (outside Forza Italia).
