Also in Asti the unions are mobilizing for a new demonstration against deaths at work and the use of gangmastering, especially in agriculture. The appeal for citizens is to participate in the event scheduled for Wednesday 26 June. at 6pm, in Piazza San Secondo.
«Every day in Italy three workers die due to the logic of profit and widespread illegality which often goes unpunished – comment the promoters of the initiative – The death of Satnam Singh is the clear demonstration that we have gone beyond the mark: we are beyond the inhumane, the logic of profit and savings. The indifference of a part of politics and the culpable delay with which the rules are applied border on collusion. In Latina everyone knew and no one did anything. The plague of gangmastering still affects many parts of Italy today, from North to South from East to West. The risk of a foreigner being the victim of a fatal accident is double that of an Italian worker. Just as the fatal accidents with the greatest victims are recorded in the Brandizzo, Florence, Bargi (Bologna) and Casteldaccia (Palermo) subcontracts”.
CGIL, CISL and UIL call together citizens “to say enough to gangmasters, low-cost contracts, deaths and accidents at work”. All institutions, employers’ organisations, citizens and all those “who want to express their horror at this massacre” are invited to the flash mob in Piazza San Secondo.
