Pecco Bagnaia secured a dominant victory in the MotoGP sprint race at the Dutch TT, pipping title rival Jorge Martin. Bagnaia, who rides for the Factory Ducati team, continued his good form throughout the weekend, leading every session before taking his second consecutive sprint win. Martin, who leads the championship, finished second for Pramac Ducati, 2.3 seconds behind Bagnaia. Aprilia’s Maverick Vinales completed the podium in third.

Marc Marquez, who rides for Gresini Ducati and currently sits third in the standings, suffered an early crash after hitting the curb at Turn 2. This was his second crash of the day, following an earlier crash during the session Q2.

Bagnaia took the lead from the start, while Martin had a small moment that allowed Bagnaia to extend his lead on the second lap. Alex Marquez moved up to third, overtaking Vinales. After Marc Marquez’s fall, Vinales took over the position from his brother and teammate. He then aimed at Martin, who was closing in on the race leader.

By lap four, Bagnaia had a 0.6-second lead, with Martin 0.8 seconds behind and Vinales further away. Meanwhile, Honda’s Luca Marini and Aprilia’s Lorenzo Savadori had dropped out of the race – Marini with an engine problem and Savadori after a crash in the final sector.

As the race continued, Bagnaia continued to increase his lead over Martin. By lap 11, the difference between the two had grown to 1.4 seconds, with Vinales a further 1.7 seconds behind in third place. Ducati’s Enea Bastianini was in fourth place, 2.8 seconds behind Vinales. The top four drivers then maintained their positions for the remainder of the race.

Bastianini made impressive progress throughout the race, starting from 11th and moving up to fifth by lap 9. He passed Brad Binder at Turn 5 and then passed Alex Marquez at Turn 16 to secure fourth.

On the final lap, Fabio Di Giannantonio capitalized on a mistake by Alex Marquez to take fifth place. Aleix Espargaro moved up to sixth before suffering a heavy crash at Turn 15, his second crash of the weekend.

Brad Binder finished sixth for KTM, while Alex Marquez received a three-second time penalty for failing to comply with a long lap penalty on the penultimate lap, dropping to eighth behind Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo. Franco Morbidelli took the final point for Pramac in ninth, while rookie Pedro Acosta had a difficult day on his Tech3 GasGas machine, finishing outside the points.

Marco Bezzecchi crossed the line in 11th place for VR46, followed by Trackhouse Racing’s Miguel Oliveira and KTM’s Jack Miller. Joan Mir was the highest placed Honda rider in 14th, ahead of Tech3 GasGas’ Augusto Fernandez and LCR’s Johann Zarco. Trackhouse Racing’s Raul Fernandez received a long lap penalty for exceeding track limits and finished in 17th place. LCR’s Takaaki Nakagami and Yamaha’s Alex Rins, who suffered a crash but returned to the race, completed the list of finishers.
