Lombardy, changes to the service on the S9 line for works between June and August

from Brevi railwaye of 24 June 2024

Trenord press release

Due to infrastructure upgrading works that will be carried out by RFI in view of the construction of the new Milan Porta Romana stop, from Sunday 23 June to Sunday 25 August the trips on the S9 Saronno – Seregno – Milan – Albairate line will not be carried out between Milan Lambrate and Milan Saint Christopher.

Refund formulas will be provided for customers in possession of season tickets and railway tickets who will have to purchase travel tickets for urban transport, due to the interruption of circulation on the Lambrate – San Cristoforo route.

Changes to the service

Between Saronno and Milan Lambrate trains will run maintaining the current timetable. Between Milan San Cristoforo and Albairate, they will travel with a rescheduled timetable: from Monday to Saturday, there will be trips every 30 or 60 minutes, depending on the time slot; on holidays there will be a service every 60 minutes for the whole day.

From Milan San Cristoforo, travelers will be able to use the trains of the Milan – Mortara – Alessandria line up to Milan Porta Genova, connected to Milan Lambrate by the “green” M2 metro line.

During the works period, double-deck Caravaggio trains will be temporarily put into service on the Milan San Cristoforo – Albairate route.

The provisions for season tickets and tickets

Customers in possession of a railway pass that does not allow the use of public transport in the city of Milan will be able to purchase monthly urban passes for July and August 2024 at the Trenord ticket offices. Once the validity has expired, they will be able to request a refund, according to the procedures communicated at the ticket office at the time of purchase. For the days between 23 and 30 June, rail season ticket holders will be able to purchase STIBM Mi1-Mi3 tickets on the Trenord channels and then request a refund.

For the entire duration of the construction site, customers with a valid train ticket for the routes affected by the interruption will be able to request a refund of the STIBM Mi1-Mi3 tickets purchased on the Trenord channels to continue their journey on urban transport.

Customers in possession of a STIBM season ticket for the Mi6 zone will also be able to use the S9 line trips to and from the Saronno and Saronno Sud stations, outside of STIBM.
