Sardinia Pride 2024: Saturday 29 June in Cagliari

After gathering over 40,000 people in 2023, Sardinia Pride is preparing to return to Cagliari on 29 June 2024, with particular attention to inclusion and safety, promoting concrete social change.

Sardinia Pride returns to Cagliari on 29 June 2024, promising a day of celebration, reflection and civil commitment. Having attracted over 40,000 people in 2023, this year’s event aims to surpass this achievement, placing a strong emphasis on accessibility and grassroots support.

In 2023, Sardinia Pride was a symbol of rebirth after years of restrictions due to the pandemic. The event saw the participation of thousands of people who marched through the streets of Cagliari, starting from the Parco della Musica. The event, characterized by singing and dancing to the rhythm of Raffaella Carrà’s songs, managed to combine entertainment and political commitment, demonstrating that Pride is much more than a simple party: it is a social movement that seeks to unite people in the fight for rights and equality.

One of the most significant initiatives of 2023 was the creation of Pride Park in the heart of the Music Park. This space hosted three days of cultural, political and entertainment events, underlining the importance of having safe and open places for meetings and dialogues. The past edition highlighted crucial issues such as accessibility, safety and visibility of LGBTIQ+ issues. The community showed incredible solidarity, raising funds through donations and the voluntary work of many people and associations, managing to cover the significant costs of the organisation.

The 2024 edition

For the 2024 edition, Sardinia Pride has even more ambitious goals. In addition to celebrating the LGBTIQ+ community, it aims to promote real change in society, fighting prejudice and discrimination. This event is not just a party, but a powerful act of affirmation of human rights, an invitation to all of society to actively participate in building a more equitable and inclusive world. Italy, in fact, is considered behind other European countries in terms of civil rights, and Sardinia Pride wants to be a strong voice in this context.

The community and supporters of Sardinia Pride are invited to contribute with donations and actively participate in the organization of the event. June 29th will be a day full of colors, music and affirmations of rights, with a particular focus on issues of safety, accessibility and inclusion. Sardinia Pride 2024 is preparing to write a new chapter in the history of the fight for LGBTIQ+ rights in Sardinia, trying to guarantee greater representation and visibility for all.

The Pride route

The route of the Sardinia Pride 2024 parade will start from the Parco della Musica, with the concentration scheduled for 5pm. The procession, an hour later, will move through various streets of Cagliari, including Via Ottone Baccaredda, Via Alessandro Manzoni, Piazza San Benedetto, Via Pasquale Paoli, Piazza Giuseppe Garibaldi, Via Sidney Sonnino, Via Logudoro, Viale Cimitero, Via Dante Alighieri and return to the Music Park. Here the political document will be read which will summarize the community’s claims and requests.

Throughout the entire journey, a group of volunteers will take care of accessibility, trying to make Pride accessible to everyone. Anyone with specific needs is invited to contact the Arc Cagliari pages to best organize the event.
